A Sunday School outreach takes root.
What would become this congregation began as a Sunday School ministry of First Baptist Church of Pontiac — a small group of believers reaching the families of Waterford with the gospel.

Independent · Fundamental · KJV
The new building on the corner of Maceday and Williams Lake, in Waterford, MI. If you’re looking for a church that is still preaching the unchanging gospel — one that still makes big changes in us — you’re in the right place.
This Sunday

From our pastor
Pastor Jeremy Leonard
Some people walk through our doors looking for a place to belong. Others come carrying weight nobody else sees. Many wander in just hoping for a fresh start — a real one.
That’s exactly what we preach. Christ doesn’t patch up the old you; He makes you new. Whatever you’re bringing in with you on Sunday, your new beginning can start right here.
Just come. Sit anywhere. We’ll save you a seat.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Doors open thirty minutes before each service. There’s coffee in the foyer, friendly greeters, and no need to register — just walk in.

We’re a church with deep roots and a fresh name. Our story didn’t start in 2026 — it just got a name that more honestly tells what God still does here every Sunday.
1951
What would become this congregation began as a Sunday School ministry of First Baptist Church of Pontiac — a small group of believers reaching the families of Waterford with the gospel.
1950s
The work grew into an Independent Baptist congregation. Dr. Tom Malone served among its first pastors, helping shape the doctrinal foundation that still anchors us today.
Decades in Pontiac & Waterford
Through the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, families across the Pontiac and Waterford communities found a spiritual home here. Children grew up to raise their own children on the same pews.
2019
The church relocated to its current home on Maceday Lake — a quiet setting that has continued to welcome the same families and reach new ones from across the Waterford area.
2026
After 75 years as Silvercrest Baptist Church, we re-introduced ourselves as New Beginning Baptist Church — same Bible, same gospel, same family — with a name that points to the freshness Christ offers every soul who comes through our doors.
Every Sunday morning our bus ministry rolls into the inner city of Pontiac and the surrounding neighborhoods, picking up children, teens, and adults who’d otherwise have no way to get to church. If you need a ride, we’ll come for you. No cost. No questions. Just an open seat and a warm welcome.

Every ministry here exists for the same reason: to help real people know Christ, follow Him, and reach others.
Bible-class teaching for children, teens, and adults — every Sunday at 10 AM.
A loving, safe place where kids hear the gospel in language they can grasp and remember.
Friendships, frank Bible conversations, fun outings, and a place to be discipled through the teen years.
Free Sunday-morning rides to church for anyone who needs one — children to seniors.
From the Word
“Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
Isaiah 1:18

We’re right on the lake at the corner of Maceday Lake Rd in Waterford. There’s plenty of parking, a friendly greeter at the door, and no need to dress up. If it’s your first time, just look for one of the greeters near the front door — they’ll get you settled.
What to expect
About 60–75 minutes long. Old-time hymns sung from the hymnal. A King James Bible message. Friendly faces. Coffee and donuts after the morning service. Children stay with their families during worship — there’s also a staffed nursery if needed.
