Seventy-five years

A long history, a fresh chapter.

Founded in 1951 as a Sunday School outreach. Long known as Silvercrest Baptist. Now reintroducing ourselves as New Beginning — the same congregation, with a name that better fits what God is still doing on Maceday Lake.

1951Chapter 1

Sunday School roots in Waterford.

What is now New Beginning Baptist Church began as a Sunday School outreach of First Baptist Church of Pontiac. A handful of believers stepped out to reach the families of Waterford with the gospel, gathering wherever they could find a room.

Early yearsChapter 2

Independence and Dr. Tom Malone.

The young congregation was set in order as an Independent Baptist church. Dr. Tom Malone served among its early pastors, helping shape the doctrinal foundation that we still hold to today: the inspired KJV Bible, biblical preaching, and biblical separation.

1960s–1990sChapter 3

Generations on Maceday Lake.

Decade after decade, families on Maceday Lake found a spiritual home here. Children grew up, married, and raised their own children on the same pews — supported by a faithful succession of pastors and lay leaders.

2000s–2020sChapter 4

A bus ministry, a missions heart, a steady hand.

The church developed a bus ministry to the inner city of Pontiac, supported missionaries on multiple continents, and stayed steady as the cultural ground around it shifted. The doors stayed open. The Bible stayed open.

2026Chapter 5

✦ A New Beginning

Same family. New name.

After 75 years as Silvercrest Baptist Church, we publicly re-introduced the congregation as New Beginning Baptist Church. Same Bible, same gospel, same family — with a name that more honestly reflects what God still does here every Sunday: makes all things new.
